How To Make Your Home Cozy After The Holidays.

The holidays are over; the hustle and bustle of December is behind us for another year. Now that January has come around, the decorations have been put away, your space feels empty. How do you create a cozy environment to get you through the rest of the long winter?

You don’t want to think of it as a cold, harsh winter.

Think of the peaceful calm that comes after big fluffy snowflakes fall from the sky. How beautiful snow covered trees really are, and the peaceful quiet that accompanies it.

This is the feeling, the calm that you want to inspire in your home after the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Just as in Holiday decor, you want to layer your textures, keeps things near that make you happy and find a space where you can curl up with a hot chocolate and enjoy winter again.

Layering Texture is Key

Use lots of fuzzy pillows and comfy throws that you want to wrap yourself in. Layer them on the couch, on the floor and on your bed. Make those the places you want to be! Use lit candles and lanterns to inspire the feeling of warmth.

Pine cones and branches bring a rugged feeling to play off the softness of the pillows and throws. It adds dimension and interest in decor pieces.

Keep a basket of slippers and extra warm socks by the front door for when guests come over. If your feet are warm, your whole body will feel warm!

And lastly, invite people over! Just because the holidays are over, doesn’t mean you have to hole up in your home alone until summer finally arrives! Host dinner parties and game nights and keep your home filled with laughter and love.
